Toby Keith is sad. Cancer battle preventing him from accepting lifetime achievement award

Toby Keith has published a video in which he expresses his inability to accept an award due to his struggle with stomach cancer.

Toby Keith used social media this week to share some bad news with his fans: he will be unable to travel to accept his lifetime achievement award at The SabesWings’ Second Annual Strike Out Fundraiser due to stomach cancer treatments.

Since sharing the video, he has received an outpouring of love from his devoted followers.

Toby Keith was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award at The SabesWings’ Second Annual Strike Out Fundraiser in Paso Robles, CA, and accepted the award via a virtual speech.

Keith remarked in the video that he was honored to get the award and that he regrets not being able to accept it in person.

“I’m pleased to accept the SabesWings lifetime achievement award,” the 61-year-old singer stated. “I’ve had a tough year battling with cancer myself and was unable to attend the event; I apologize.”

Keith then thanked “all the folks at SabesWings” and talked a little more about the award itself.

“Bret and Kandace choose persons for this distinction based on three criteria: service to a group of people in need, making a difference in the lives of others, and the common thread of working cohesively with other organizations having a goal and passion,” he explained.

Keith was referring to the fact that this benefit was hosted by former all-star MLB baseball player Bret Saberhagen and his wife, Kandace, according to MyRadioLink.

The fundraiser was a big success, earning $1,046,000 for the SabesWings charity, which assists cancer sufferers in need of medical financial support.

Keith then discussed the work his eponymous charity is doing with SabesWings to assist cancer patients and survivors.

“In Oklahoma City, my nonprofit, the Toby Keith Foundation, established the OK Kids Korral.” “We provide lodging, food, and transportation to and from the hospital for children with cancer and their families who stay across the street from the Children’s Hospital,” he explained.

“We formed the foundation to help alleviate that load.  It’s a genuine dream come true.”

Outsider noted that fans expressed their love and support for Keith in the comments area of his video during this tough time.

“I saw you three or four times in concert and truly appreciated them.  I hope you recover quickly. You are a fantastic entertainer!!!” “Dear Jesus, son of God, hear my prayers, please carry this man in your arms, I plead for peace and healing,” one follower said. ” AMEN. TOBY, GET WELL.”

Another follower shared their own cancer story, stating, “Sending prayers for you and others who are fighting cancer.” This month marks three years since I lost my fiancé.”  “May God bless you all.”

Keith stated in June that he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer, which would cause him to die in the fall of 2021.

“I’ve spent the previous six months through chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, heal, and rest,” he remarked at the time on Instagram. “I’m excited to spend this time with my family. But I’ll see the fans sooner rather than later. I can hardly wait.”

While we are concerned that Keith’s cancer struggle continues to make travel difficult for him, we are encouraged by the outpouring of affection that he is receiving from fans as he fights for his life. Please join us in praying for Keith as his cancer fight continues!
