Zubaida Hasan, age 9, grew up in a small Afghan village where she led a typical existence.
But in 2001, things changed suddenly. The modest gas stove for her household was lighted when it suddenly erupted. She caught fire, and the consequences were disastrous.
One of her arms became tethered to her body, and the skin on her face melted into her chest. A nearby physician informed Zubaida’s father that she had no chance of survival and forewarned him of this.
However, Zubaida’s father was adamant that his daughter live, and the events that followed were truly miraculous.
Doctors declared that there was nothing they could do following the terrible catastrophe. They suggested that her father take the child home, put her to sleep, and then leave her to perish.
However, Zubaida’s father was determined not to give up and chose to take a chance. Even though the US military hospital doesn’t often accept civilian patients, he brought Zubaida there in Kabul, the country of Afghanistan.
However, when the local medical staff witnessed the extent of the girl’s suffering, they made an exception and admitted her.
Soon after arriving in the US, Zubaida was treated by burns specialist and plastic surgeon Peter Grossman.
Zubaida underwent a number of procedures that each required skin transplants from different regions of her body.
Zubaida shown incredible strength and tenacity despite her youth. Zubaida made an impression on Dr. Grossman, and they grew close.
She was welcomed into the house of the plastic surgeon and his wife, who were able to support her during her difficult period.
After 12 weeks, Zubaida learned English, enrolled in a local school, and made lots of new friends.
Zubaida’s face was recovered after just a year, and the girl was able to sing, play the guitar, and dance once more because to the dedication of the medical team and her own strength.
The girl was given a second chance in life despite the fact that her first doctors thought she was a hopeless case, and her turnaround is unparalleled!
