The legendary anchor was brought to the hospital again the day after Thanksgiving when he missed anchoring the Macy’s parade for the first time in nearly 30 years.
Al Roker was reportedly rushed back to the hospital on Friday, November 25 after facing a health scare connected to blood clots less than a day after being discharged.
Al, 68, was taken to the hospital the day after Thanksgiving as his wife Deborah Roberts rushed to get her phone out of her car so they could travel together. Al’s absence from Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, his first in 27 years, prompted his hospitalization.
According to a witness who saw Al being taken away, he appeared to be improving since the visit. “Al was returned to the hospital in a stretcher from his house on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.” His condition was alarming, but they reported that after returning to the hospital, he improved. Deborah, 62, was attempting to smash the glass of their Tesla in order to grab her phone so she could follow him, according to the bystander. His wife, Deborah, was understandably enraged. She was attempting to break through a glass since she had forgotten to take her phone and other belongings out of their broken-down Tesla. Deborah and her daughter then took a taxi to the hospital, where Al has been waiting for them ever since.
Al revealed in an Instagram post that he was admitted to the hospital in the middle of November for a blood clot. “When I arrived at the hospital, I had a blood clot in my leg that had travelled to my lungs.” He explained to his followers why he hadn’t appeared on Today: “After some medical whack-a-mole, I am really fortunate to be receiving excellent medical care and on the road to recovery.”
While the renowned weatherman was not on the show, his colleagues Today hosts sent him love and well wishes throughout the broadcast. Hoda Kotb delivered an upbeat message, noting that he had gone absent for the first time in nearly 30 years.
“As many of you are aware, Al is recovering from a recent medical crisis and is doing exceptionally well.” We simply want to convey our love for Al. I’m not sure if you’re paying attention, but we want to wish you a speedy recovery.”
On Instagram, Al said he saw some of the parade and gave Hoda and Savannah Guthrie thumbs up. He also shared a photo of his family, expressing how happy he was to spend the holiday with them. “I’m so thankful to be able to share Thanksgiving dinner with my family at home,” he wrote.
